WHO WE ARE?

Public Union for Gender Equality and Women’s Initiatives (GEWI) has been founded by a group of active women with professional background in gender and women’s rights issues on July 14, 2007. The organization has been registered at the Ministry of Justice on November 16, 2007.

Our mission

Our mission is to contribute to the development of democracy in Azerbaijan by promoting gender equality and women’s rights both on policy level and in practice through joint collaborative initiatives.

To reach its mission GEWI does lobbying for gender equality and women’s rights, strives for strengthening of the role of women in social life, helps in increasing political participation and representation of women, monitors the situation of gender equality and women’s rights in the country and prepares shadow reports, does research on social and economical problems of women, realizes public awareness work and campaign among women and supports the work of young NGOs in regions of the country working on gender and women’s rights.
